Qualifications

Open to all ages, gender, amateurs, professionals and nationalities

Individuals and groups may apply.

Applicants under 16 years of age must obtain consent of their guardians.
Requirements

Entries must be original creations. All Kimono are eligible except those that have previously won awards in past contests.

Entries must be finished kimonos – not conceptual designs or drawings.

Entries can be new or old as long as they express our basic themes.

If selected by the jury, designers agree to submit their finished kimono for exhibitions in Tokyo and New York. If they wish to sell their kimono, the gallery will arrange the sale for a commission.

If selected by the jury, designers are responsible to send their kimono to New York or to our agents in Japan. Organizers will return the kimono after the exhibitions in New York and Tokyo are completed.

Kimono can be of any size or gender: men’s, women, child, and ceremonial… but must adhere to Kimono’s spirit and shape.

Kimono can be for any season or purpose: summer, winter, work, party, etc

Obi can be included in the entry… but not independently as a separate item. Obi can be part of the ensemble but not required.

Designers can be amateur or professional

Kimono can be of any materials or any coloring system including hand painted, computer printed, patchwork, dye, etc

By submitting to this contest, designers grant all photographic rights to the contest organizers for public dissemination.

Each individual is limited to four entries: Two as solo individual works and two as participation in a group.
